We have become aware of a number of unscrupulous internet retailers who are selling sub-standard products as Chillows. The packaging and internal literature unfortunately gives the impression that the fake has been manufactured by Soothsoft.

These fake Chillows are sold at 'bargain' prices but they are not genuine and will not be supported by our warranty. If you see a cheap Chillow it's probably a fake and will not work effectively or be covered by any warranty. We endeavour to stop the sale of these inferior products because they infringe the Chillow patent, damage our brand, and are fraudulent in every respect.

You can only be 100% sure that your Chillow is genuine is by purchasing directly
through Soothsoft Ltd or our approved retailers.

The quality of some of these fakes is truly appalling, and if you viewed a genuine Chillow alongside a fake you would have absolutely no problem in picking the fake. To help you find out if your Chillow is fake or genuine, here are some guidelines:

Chillow Graphics
A genuine Chillow has the standard Chillow graphics printed on the product. This may change slightly from time to time, but the comparison is obvious.	As a cost-saving measure, the fakers don't bother too much with the appearance of their products. They want to maximise their profits.
Serial Number
All genuine Chillows have a unique serial number. This is so that we can monitor and control the quality of our products. The serial number is printed on the rear of the Chillow, close to the stopper.	Fake Chillows don't have genuine serial numbers, and usually have no serial number at all. This is no surprise since the manufacturers are only interested in stealing your money, and certainly don't want to spend money on quality assurance programmes.
Stopper Fits
The stopper on a genuine Chillow is a good, water-tight fit. The stopper cap is attached to the stopper.	We have some examples where either the stopper is not watertight, or the cap doesn't fit at all. Needless to say, this renders the fake Chillow absolutely useless (unless you like a wet pillow).
Packaging
The packaging of a genuine Chillow is a proper, professionally printed carton.	Fake Chillows are packed in cheap, photocopied packages.
Effectiveness
Soothsoft have spent years and thousands of pounds developing the technology which makes the Chillow work, and have secure patents on these technologies. The Chillow does exactly what it says.	The rip-off artists behind the fake Chillows couldn't care less whether or not their products work. The only want to steal your money. They produce something which looks vaguely like a Chillow, but it has none of the technology which is has been developed, and is owned by Soothsoft. Consequently, the included instruction sheets and packaging carry OUR address to deflect any criticism. Unfortunately we can't support these products. Sorry.

What to do if you have bought a fake

If you realise that you have spent your hard-earned money lining the pockets of a faker, then we are genuinely sorry. We wish you had bought a genuine Chillow. However, under these circumstances there is nothing we can do for you other than what we are doing already, which is pursuing all legal and civil channels to prevent this fraud.

You could try and contact the organisation where you bought your fake Chillow, but don't expect them to be too helpful. They are thieves; what do you expect? You are protected by consumer law, so you might report them to the police or trading standards.

We completely understand that, having had your fingers burned,
you might not be interested in buying a genuine Chillow.
